Stephen M. Johnson has practiced law since 2010 and joined Schlagel Kinzer LLC as an associate in January 2012. A third-generation Johnson County resident, Steve graduated Phi Beta Kappa in History from Kansas State University, and is a fourth-generation graduate of the University of Kansas Law School.
Steve has experience helping clients with wills, trusts, and estate planning; probate administration; probate and trust litigation; real estate, business law, and contracts; copyrights, trademarks, and intellectual property; and adoption. Steve has worked closely with estate planning and probate attorneys since 2008, interned for U.S. Senator Sam Brownback in college, and has been part of his family’s small business for over 15 years.
Steve is passionate about helping individuals and small businesses achieve the best solutions to their legal and business challenges.
Steve co-wrote published Continuing Legal Education presentations for attorneys on incorporating non-profit organizations in Kansas and Missouri, and Kansas probate and civil litigation. He has also written over a dozen guest columns in the Kansas City Star and college newspapers at K-State and KU.
Steve is licensed to practice law in the state courts of Kansas and in the federal courts. He is a member of the Kansas, Johnson County, and Kansas City Bar Associations, the Kansas City Estate Planning Society, and the Federalist Society.
